Joe Serna

Joe Serna helped the Ottawa Braves baseball program accomplish many accolades in 1997 and 1998. His individual achievements include 1998 KCAC Player of the Year, multiple First Team All-KCAC selections, and NAIA regional and All-American honorable mentions.

He holds several school records including single season batting average (.461), single season triples (4), career batting average (.426) and career on base percentage (.494).

After earning his Bachelor of Arts in 1998, Joe pursued further education, completing a master’s in adaptive special education and a Building Leadership in Education Certification. Over more than two decades in education, he has served as a teacher, instructional coach, and currently as assistant principal at Ottawa High School.

An active community member, Joe has worked as a basketball official, baseball umpire, youth coach, and volunteer. 

He lives in Osage City, Kansas, with his wife Tammy (Croucher) ’99 and their daughters Aliks ’23, Hayden, and Sawyer.
